Wissahickon Trojan Aquatics announces its Spring Water Polo League

All middle/high school boys and girls are invited to join Spring Water Polo!  This developmental league helps participants to learn the sport and/or sharpen skills.  Anyone who just wants to learn more about the sport is welcome.  8th graders who are interested in playing on the high school team next fall are highly encouraged to sign up.  We expect most kids will have little or no experience but there are good coaches who will help participants learn the basics and have fun. "If you can swim and can catch and throw a volleyball, then you can play water polo," according to Doug Krause, who advises the league.. This is a low-key, learning program - participants can attend as many practices and games as they want so it fits in well with other spring sports and events. Come out and join the fun!  Visit http://waterpolo.wsdsports.org  for registration and additional information.

PSSA Testing

This year we will be administering the Reading and Mathematics portion of the PSSA on April 8, 9, 12, and 13. Due to the fact that students’ performance on these two subtests determines our Adequate Yearly Progress, we want to maximize the testing environment as best we can.

On April 8, 9, 12 and 13, 11th grade students will follow the regular arrival schedule and begin testing 1st period. Students in grades 9, 10 and 12 will arrive on a 2-hour delay on April 8 and 9 and on a 3-hour delay on April 12 and 13.

Great Volunteer Opportunity for all parents and guardians of WSD students

The College Preparation Fair sponsored by the WHS Parent Teacher Council will be held Thursday night, April 8th, in tandem with the Family Awareness Night.  We are looking for parent volunteers who are willing to discuss their professions, and their college or study paths which led them to their professions with the Wissahickon students during the Fair between the hours of 6:00 -8:00 p.m. This exposure to various professions can aid students in choosing courses of study and colleges which will lead to career goals.  We hope you will participate.  Our parents represent a wide variety of professions, and the information you have to provide will be invaluable to all of our students. Please contact Amy Sauber, agsauber@comcast.net or Melissa Selverian at melissaselverianptc@comcast.net to let us know you would like to participate. Thank you!
