Message from our Principal

August 2012

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The 2012-2013 school will be filled with exciting and rewarding accomplishments by our student body. Built on the foundation of academic performance, our students will also demonstrate success artistically, athletically and with personal accomplishments.

For this success to be realized we need the efforts of our students, staff and parents throughout the school year. Students will be required to put forth their best effort. Striving to do better by taking advantage of courses, seeking support and applying the knowledge they learn in multiple ways will be encouraged. Staff will be required to engage students in their learning, request the best from their students and follow through with support that will maximize students’ success. Our parents will be encouraged in the learning process through their support, participation, and high standards they set for all our students’ success. It will take each of us to assist all of us reach our potential.

This year we usher in the new schedule. It provides extended class time and an opportunity for a program called I/E – Intervention and Enrichment to support students daily learning and provide activities capitalizing on the interests of our students and staff. 2012 also begins a new one-on-one technology program for our in-coming 9th graders. Our students will be provided with a computer and tools to enhance their learning and assist with our “paperless” and “go green” initiative by our district. More importantly, all our 9th graders will be instructed and access instruction in the same manner.

We will be welcoming a number of new staff this year to our high school. They will bring new ideas and learning approaches but will need to hit the ground running to raise the bar and enrich the instruction at Wissahickon High School.

So, as the 2012/2013 school year is about to begin, please get involved, help us to challenge each student to do their best where learning is successfully embraced by all.

            Have a great year!!!

                                                                                    Sincerely,

                                                                                    Lyn Fields
