New Meal Requirements 2012-2013

Certification of Compliance with New Meal Patterns for Six Cents Reimbursement

Beginning October 1, 2012, the USDA will offer an additional six cents ($0.06) lunch reimbursement to school districts in order to assist in the implementation of the new meal patterns authorized in the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act. Districts must demonstrate compliance utilizing a USDA or State certification process for both breakfast and lunch meal pattern. Chartwells has been developing a plan to ensure the District receives the necessary documentation to submit to the state agency by September 28, 2012 for certification.

Details are as follows:

  • Chartwells will plan menus to be served during the certification month that comply with the breakfast and lunch meal patterns for the 2012-13 school year or future year as required by the state agency.

Complete

  • Chartwells registered dietitians will prepare required certification documents for each breakfast and lunch menu and will meet with each Director of Dining Services to review documents.

August-September

  • Chartwells Director of Dining Services will submit final certification documents to client for review and client will sign receipt of documents.

By September 28

  • Client will review certification documents, sign Attestation Statement provided by the USDA, and submit certification packet to state agency. It is the client’s responsibility to review all certification documents and clarify any questions or concerns with Chartwells prior to submission to the state agency.

First Week of October
