Reading Olympics 2012-2013
The goal of the Reading Olympics program is to increase students' interest in reading for enjoyment , to strengthen reading skills and to foster collaboration and teamwork. Students meet with their coaches and teammates to work together to read the forty books that have been selected by a committee of librarians, reading specialists and classroom teachers from Montgomery and Bucks Counties. In the spring, the students attend a county-wide competition where they answer questions written by these professionals. Reading Olympics are primarily a celebration of reading rather than a contest. All participants are awarded ribbons and the students are genuinely excited about participating in this event.
