What can we help you find?

Just the Facts: Official WSD Communication

In urgent and emergency situations, it’s essential to rely on official school district communication as your primary source of information. District messages are verified, timely, and coordinated with building leaders and public safety agencies to ensure families get clear information and direction.

Official District Communication Sources

  • Mass Notification: WSD uses contact information from our student information system, Infinite Campus, to send phone calls, text messages and emails directly to our families and staff. It is important to check that your contact information in Infinite Campus is correct. Note: To receive text messages, you must opt in by texting "Y" or "yes" to 67587. To ensure that emails don't go into your spam filter, mark the email address, broadcasts@schoolmessengeremail.com as a safe sender.
  • WSD website: The district uses a pop-up message on the district website for urgent alerts such as school dismissals, closures and emergency directions.
  • Schoology: Messages are posted for WMS and WHS students and families.
  • Elementary principals communicate directly with families.

NOTE: if you are not receiving WSD emails, texts or phone messages, please contact communications@wsdweb.org

WSD Social Media and Rules of Engagement

WSD does NOT use its social media (Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn) to communicate about emergencies. Our pages are used for sharing district/school news, accomplishments, photos and videos of our students, staff and school community. We encourage community engagement. We also expect that participants exercise civility and empathy when posting comments to our pages. Please remember that your comments can be viewed by many people in our community, including students, and are considered to be in the public domain. While WSD does not want to censor the opinions or comments of its community members, certain types of comments will not be tolerated.

We reserve the right to delete posts that:

  • Are vulgar or profane;
  • Contain personal attacks or accusations;
  • Could be offensive to or target specific ethnic or racial groups;
  • Incite violence;
  • Encourage others to break the law;
  • Could be considered campaigning for a political office;
  • Easily identify students and/or staff in defamatory, abusive or generally negative terms;
  • Promote services or products; or
  • Are rude or deride the opinions of others.

IMPORTANT NOTE: there are social media pages administered by student clubs, teams and other school community members. The school district does not have administrative rights and does not post or engage in discussion on these pages. The content on these pages does not reflect the viewpoint of the district.

Always check the facts and help stop the spread of misinformation and disinformation within our school community.

In a digital environment where information is readily available and delivered at a faster pace than ever, false and incorrect information is also spreading at an alarming rate. Our ability to question and then verify what we read and hear is critical to stop this from happening. Not only do we need to understand the information we receive, but we also need to understand the source of information.

  • Misinformation is false or incorrect information that is spread, regardless of whether there is intent to mislead.

  • Disinformation is deliberately misleading or biased information, or manipulated narrative or facts.

Help Us Protect Student Privacy

The district shares as much information as legally and ethically possible. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of all students’ educational records, including the names of students involved, details of incidents and disciplinary actions. We encourage families to refrain from mentioning students' names and spreading rumors or unverified details as this can be harmful and disruptive to our school community and the safety of our students.
