Wissahickon is proud to provide a variety of instructional support programs and district-recommended resources for our students. We encourage families to to view the options below to support your child's academic success. This information is organized by grade level and content area. Click the tabs to expand the list.
Elementary School
Homework Support
Rising Stars Homework Club: available to students of Shady Grove and Lower Gwynedd Elementary Schools. Children are invited to participate by their teachers. Adults with current clearances assist students with homework, studying, reading fluency, mathematics, and social skills. Students have access to educational and brain teaser games along with team building activities. A healthy snack, creative activity, and play time are incorporated into each session.
Wissahickon Valley Boys & Girls Club: serves nearly 4,000 children and teens between the ages of 6 and 18 at its three facilities. The club offers nearly 50 different recreational activities each year, character-building programs such as Smart Girls and Passport to Manhood, summer camp and an after school homework assistance program - Project Learn.

Middle School
School Support Programs
Homework Club: WMS students may be referred by teachers, counselors or parents to obtain academic support after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays for specific classes, assignments and test preparation with certified teachers.
Trojan Block: All students receive academic support on specific subjects during the scheduled Trojan block period.
Reading and Math Support: Students who need extra support with reading and math may be assigned to work with a Reading and Math Specialist. Talk to your student's counselor for more information.

High School
Academic Support Programs
Extended Learning Time Program (ELT) is an after-school program designed to provide academic support in our core subject areas.
Tuesday ELT Sessions are in-person:
Tuesday ELT sessions are in-person. ELT runs Tuesdays from 2:45-4:15 in the Lab Room in L Hall next to the Library. Students will be assisted by a teacher and/or an NHS student in that subject area.
Thursday ELT Sessions are virtual via Teams:
Thursday ELT Sessions will be virtual from 7:00-8:00 pm using Teams. This is an online homework helpline with live WHS Teachers. Each Thursday, a Teams link will be posted to Schoology by 1:00 pm for that Thursday’s ELT Session(s). Only subject area(s) with a scheduled teacher will be posted to Schoology on Thursday afternoon.
Math Lab is open every day in the Library during all sessions except during IE and B Lunch. Students can visit the Lab for extra support, re-teaching, pre-teaching, and/or second chance learning opportunities.
Students Together Achieve Real Success (STARS) is a peer-to-peer tutoring program that students can access during Study Hall, Lunch, I/E, or after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday beginning at 2:40 P.M. Students can sign up to provide help as a tutor or to receive assistance in the different subject areas. Applications are available in the library or counseling office. Please return completed applications with a parent/guardian signature to the library or to Mr. McCabe in room G-02. Meetings will be arranged through Schoology. If students have any questions, they should email Mr. McCabe (bmccabe@wsdweb.org) or contact him via Schoology message.
Study Hall: WHS students are encouraged to use this time to seek help from teachers on assignments and test preparation.

For at-home password access to our on-line sources/research databases, go to your course Schoology page and look in the course materials/resources folder for passwords for remote access.
