E-bike Requirements and Safety Information
As E-bikes continue to grow in popularity, families are encouraged to review Pennsylvania's requirements for safe and legal operation. The Wissahickon School District recently received information from the Borough of Ambler Police Department regarding Pennsylvania E-bike regulations, including that riders must be at least 16 years old to legally operate an E-bike.
The information provided also notes that electric scooters cannot be legally operated on public roadways or sidewalks and may only be operated on private property. Families are encouraged to discuss safe riding practices and applicable state laws with their children.
Please also remember that, in accordance with Wissahickon School District Board Policy, E-bikes are not permitted on school grounds. We appreciate our local law enforcement partners for helping promote student safety and awareness.
