What can we help you find?

First Time Bus Riders

How to help ease your child’s school bus worries.

  1. Attending Kindergarten orientation is a great way to get your student more comfortable with getting on the bus.  During the orientation, students will get on an actual bus and go for a quick ride.
  2. Prior to the start of the school year, you may want to show your student the bus stop where you and your child will meet the bus each morning and each afternoon.
  3. On your first day, be sure to introduce yourself and your child to the bus driver.  This way, your child will be sure to get on the right bus to come home at the end of the day (Your child’s teacher will also be there to help).
  4. Reassure your child that you or someone your child knows well, such as a day care provider, will be there at the end of the day.
  5. Enjoy the ride! Teach your child some easy-to-remember safety tips about how to behave that will help create a positive experience on the bus.  It is a great time to make new friends and classmates!!
