Food Services

Welcome from the Nutrition Group

We’re more excited than ever to welcome your children back. We’ve been refining and improving their favorite foods they have come to love, and also creating delicious, exciting, new chef-inspired meals that we can’t wait to share with everyone. Our simple mission continues to shine through every aspect of our business: Caring for People. Serving Great Food.

We know you have tough decisions to make every day. Let us help by providing school lunch for your children.  There are multiple advantages:

SAVE MONEY – Groceries at home can add up. Our buying power means we get quality food at cost effective pricing. Want to simplify the school year even more? Paying ahead can be an easy, low stress way to ensure your children always have a healthy meal at school. If you qualify for low- or no-cost school lunches, then this can be an important way to meet your weekly household food budget.

SAVE TIME – No more morning rush to pack lunch!

VARIETY – No more guessing what your child will be hungry for at lunch. Students can choose from multiple options on the serving line every day.

BALANCED NUTRITION – School meals are nutritious and are based on USDA guidelines.

If your child has specific needs or allergy concerns, please complete the Medical Plan of Care Form and return it to the school office.

Free School Breakfast Beginning October 1, 2022

On September 9, 2022, Governor Wolf announced that Pennsylvania will make it possible for all schools participating in the School Breakfast Program to provide free breakfasts for all enrolled students in the 2022-2023 school year. Beginning October 1, 2022, Wissahickon School District will offer free breakfast to all currently enrolled students for this school year.

Families are still encouraged to complete the free/reduced price meal application because school lunches are not free for this school year. Lunch costs $2.65 for the elementary schools and $3.00 for the secondary schools (middle and high schools). For reduced-price meals, lunch costs $0.40 for all schools. A qualified application may provide additional federal program benefits. Click here to complete the application.

Apply Now: Free and Reduced Meal Application

Your child(ren) may be eligible to receive free or reduced school meals, based on your income or state benefits received. Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, school meals are no longer free for all students as this federal funding is discontinued for districts to provide free meals to all students. In order to be eligible for free or reduced meals, families will need to complete an application unless they participate in a qualified benefits program (e.g., SNAP, TANF, or certain Medical Assistance).

In previous years, NSLBP provided over 31 million children with nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free meals each day. The NSLBP follows the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) guidelines for nutrition and dietary specifications for each meal provided to students.
