April/May 2023:

SCHEDULE: This month, Dr. Haney will be meeting with the Senior Class to discuss lots of exciting and important end of the year information. Graduation will be here before you know it and we are excited! Graduation will be on Thursday, June 8 at 6:00 PM (with a rain-date on Friday, June 9). The stadium will open at 5:00 PM for family and friends to arrive. The ceremony is planned to be outside in our stadium on June 8. In the event that we are rained out on the 8^th, we plan to have the ceremony in the stadium on June 9. If it rains on the 9th, we will hold our ceremony indoors. If the ceremony is outside, each student will receive ten tickets for their guests. If we are rained out on the 8th and the 9th and need to move the celebration inside, each student will be given two tickets for our Circle Gym. Tickets for handicapped guests in either location will be available to families. (If you are in need of handicapped seating, please contact Dr. Haney’s office.) Our students will receive their tickets during their graduation rehearsal on June 7. Our caps and gowns have been ordered! Students will receive their cap and gown at the rehearsal on June 7.

Students will need to attend a graduation rehearsal in the auditorium at 7:45 AM on June 7 and at 7:45 AM on June 8.

In order to participate in graduation, the graduate must agree to and electronically sign the graduation contract. That link will also be posted to Schoology on April 25. Please be sure to check this off your to-do list!

Please be sure to clear all outstanding obligations before June 7. Open obligations will prevent a student from receiving a copy of his/her diploma at graduation. We appreciate your attention to this matter. You can find information about your student’s obligations on the Fees tab in Infinite Campus or you can contact your student’s Assistant Principal with questions or concerns.

VICTORY LAPS: Additionally, we are planning our annual Victory Laps at WMS and the elementary schools after the rehearsal on June 7. This is such a fun tradition! Students will receive information about this in the coming weeks at the assembly and via Schoology – we hope everyone opts to participate! Don’t miss out on the chance to wear your cap and gown and walk the halls of WMS and one of our elementary schools to celebrate with teachers and students across the district. Please be sure to sign up before the window closes on May 12.

Senior Class Trip: Six Flags/Great Adventure

The senior class trip to Six Flags/Great Adventure will be June 6 (approximate time – 8:00am – 5:00 pm).

Cost: $75.00/person sold via MySchoolBucks. Tickets sales will begin April 20: https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/stores/getstoremain.

What to bring? Extra money for food/drink and any souvenirs you may want to purchase.

Based on the interest survey, we have reserved three buses that will accommodate the first 138 students who purchase and are approved for a ticket (all obligations must be cleared for an approved ticket).

DO NOT WAIT TO PURCHASE YOUR TICKET! After we reach this number, we will begin a waiting list for any additional students that are interested in going. In order to reserve an additional bus, we need 46 additional students. No tickets will be sold or names added to a wait list after May 3 due to bus deadlines.

Flowers and Graduation Teddy Bears

Beautiful Flower Bouquets and Graduation Teddy Bears Will Be Available For Purchase On-Site at the Wissahickon High School Commencement Ceremony. Click here to pre-order. Pre-order website closes at 8 p.m. on June 7. All pre-orders will be set aside at a specific table to allow for pick-up in the Stadium after 3 p.m. on Commencement Day. Look for the table at the kiosk. Credit cards only. No cash.

Commencement Cap Decorations

You’re invited to join in our Cap Decorating Celebration! Express yourself and share your excitement for what the future may hold for you and your classmates! Caps/gowns will be distributed at rehearsal on June 7th. Get your materials (pens, paints, paper, etc.) and yourcreative juices flowing now! Designs can be painted directly on your cap or attached on a piece of thick paper (Caps measure 9.25” x 9.25”).

Share your cap decorations on the eve of graduation - June 7th - via your Instagram and tag @Wiss.23grads. Pictures will also be shared on WSD Facebook/Twitter.
