School Clubs & Programs

Every school in WSD incorporates school programs and extracurricular activities focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Students are given the opportunity to share common interests, socialize, and participate in activities with a focus on treating others with kindness and respect and learning how to be a good partner/team member/community member.
As a result, students form stronger relationships with a wider range of individuals, broadening their understanding, appreciation, and acceptance of other people, perspectives, and cultures to create a strong sense of belonging.

Check out some examples of school activities at each level below.

All WSD schools celebrate diversity through Black History Month and events honoring Asian American, Hispanic American and Native American traditions.

APA month imageIn May, students, families and staff across the district participate in Asian Pacific American (APA) Heritage Month, which celebrates the history and cultures of Asian American and Pacific Islanders in our country. In 2021, the Wiss Nation APA community shared photos of our students, staff, families, foods, cultures, and traditions. WHS TV students created more than 15 educational videos available on our YouTube channel.

In recognition of Black History Month last year, members of Celebrating All Students Achievement (CASA) created short educational videos about racial and social inequities which were shared in Social Studies classrooms each week. The videos conclude with a wrap-up question to further thought and/or discussion.
