District News
Dear Wissahickon School District Community,
I am honored and excited to reach out to you as I prepare to step into the role of superintendent for our district, effective July 1, 2025. I’m filled with gratitude for the support from our Board of Directors, the dedication of our staff, and the trust of families in our Wissahickon School District community. I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our current superintendent, Dr. Crisfield, for his mentorship and guidance, which have been invaluable to my development and have helped prepare me for this upcoming role.
As I prepare to step into this role, my vision for our district is grounded in three priorities:
- Academic Excellence and Growth for All: I will prioritize high standards and equitable access to resources to ensure every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential. This means focusing on enhancing curriculum development and professional development, and expanding pathways for all learners.
- Safe and Inclusive Learning Environments: In addition to physical safety, I’m committed to cultivating a school climate that promotes respect, empathy, and a sense of belonging. Our district will continue to build on our efforts with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and No Place for Hate, enhancing both safety and inclusivity in every school.
- Family and Community Partnerships: I’m eager to foster open, transparent communication and meaningful engagement throughout our district, because collaboration with our families and community stakeholders are essential to our success. Together, we can create the most meaningful impact for our students.
I’m inspired by our district’s rich history of academic excellence and I’m confident in our ability to shape an even brighter, more successful future for our students. I look forward to meeting with you, hearing your perspectives, and collaborating with you to support the success and well-being of our students. In the next few weeks, we will develop a schedule for several community engagement opportunities at various locations across the district. These gatherings will be a chance to meet with me in person, share your thoughts, ask questions, and collaborate on ways to shape the future of our district together. Details about these events will be included in my next letter, "From the Desk of Dr. Dawan.”
Until then, I invite you to view my brief introduction video featured below. Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership.
