District News
Dear WSD Families and Staff:
It has come to our attention that a Nazi flag, a symbol of hate, intolerance and antisemitism, was publicly displayed at a private home in the district recently. Wissahickon School District is committed to cultivating a safe environment in which all students, staff, and families are treated with dignity. We want our staff, students and families to know that we condemn such actions and the message they convey in the strongest possible terms.
We are proud that all six of our schools are firmly committed to numerous “No Place for Hate” activities and assurances throughout the year, and that theme permeates everything we do as a school district. Its bedrock principles are:
- I will seek to understand and respect those who are different than me.
- I will address and challenge prejudice, bias, and discrimination.
- I will act as an ally to support those who are targets of bias, bullying, and, hate.
- I will help students in my school feel included, respected, and treated fairly.
- I will help make our school No Place for Hate.
In fact, these principles capture perfectly who we are, as we continue to foster a culture and climate of belonging and inclusion for all Wissahickon School District students and staff.
As always, our counselors are available to any staff member or student who might need support in the wake of this hurtful and highly alarming event.
