District News
As we approach the weekend, we are aware there is a possibility of snow on Monday, January 6. While no decision has been made about the status of school on Monday, we want to ensure students are prepared for all scenarios, including the possibility of remote learning.
Today, Friday, January 3, students will take home their technology devices (Grades 2-12) and learning materials (Grades K-1). This precautionary step is aligned to our procedures for remote learning preparation; however, it is important to note that this is not an advance call for a remote learning day.
In a previous letter to parents/guardians, WSD Emergency Closing Procedures, we shared information about how decisions are made for school closures, and we explained there would be the potential for virtual/remote learning days this year. We will continue to have traditional “snow days,” and we will implement a virtual/remote learning day when circumstances align.
Currently, it’s too early to make a determination for the status of school for Monday, January 6. The decision regarding school on Monday—whether it will be in-person, a remote learning day, or a traditional “snow day” school closure—will be made on Sunday evening or early Monday morning, as usual. We will continue to monitor the weather and carefully consider all factors before making the final decision.
Please note that an announcement will only be made in the event of a school closure or delay. If no announcement is made, you can assume school will be in session as usual with in-person learning.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we ensure our students are ready for any possible changes to the school schedule. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s school.
