At the September 30 public meeting of the Wissahickon Board of School Directors, President Amy Ginsburg unveiled the Board’s intention to promote Dr. Mwenyewe Dawan, currently the district’s Assistant Superintendent, to the position of Superintendent, effective 7/1/25.
Earlier in the day, the district’s current Superintendent, Dr. James Crisfield, announced his intention to resign, for the purpose of retirement, at the end of the current school year.
Contract documents will be prepared by the district’s solicitor in the coming weeks, and the Board will take official action on Dr. Dawan’s promotion at its November 4, 2024, regular public meeting.
“We are thrilled to have an exceptional, highly acclaimed educational leader like Dr. Dawan ready to step in and keep our district moving forward” said President Ginsburg, “and we are grateful to Dr. Crisfield for his years of leadership and service to this community and to the students of Wiss Nation.”
