WSD Appoints New Student Services Director

Wissahickon School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Julie O’Malley as the next Director of Student Services. Approved at the May 4 school board meeting, Dr. O’Malley will officially assume her role at WSD on July 6, 2026, replacing Dr. Kelle Heim-McCloskey, who is retiring.

“I am honored to join the Wissahickon School District as the new Director of Student Services. I am dedicated to proactive, inclusive student support—meeting students where they are and removing barriers to their academic and social-emotional success,” said Dr. O’Malley. “I look forward to working collaboratively with the Wiss leadership team, staff, families, students, and community partners to ensure our practices remain innovative and aligned with our Vision: Belong, Inspire, Engage, Excel.”

Dr. O’Malley brings a decade of experience as Supervisor of Student Services in the Lower Moreland Township School District, along with a reputation for thoughtful, student-centered leadership. Previously, she served as a middle and high school Inclusionary Co-Teacher and Learning Support Teacher at Pennsbury School District, as well as a Special Education Teacher at Woods Services, a residential program in Langhorne.

Dr. O’Malley holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from La Salle University, a Special Education Supervisory Certification from The Pennsylvania State University, and both a Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility Certification and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Arcadia University.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. O’Malley as our next Director of Student Services. With a decade of leadership experience, she brings a strong commitment to supporting students, staff, and families with empathy, dignity, and respect,” said Superintendent Dr. Mwenyewe Dawan. “This role is essential to ensuring every learner receives the support they need to succeed, and we are confident
Dr. O’Malley will continue to strengthen partnerships across our school community, building on the strong foundation established by Dr. Kelle Heim-McCloskey.”
