District News
Wissahickon School District focuses on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) themes across all K-12 buildings. The district’s SEL Steering Committee developed these themes to cultivate rewarding social emotional learning experiences and opportunities for students and staff.
Morning Meetings, Advisory Periods, and We Have Space are intentional times when social and emotional learning check-ins, discussions, and activities occur with students and teachers. At each building, students can access their teachers, school counselors, assistant principals, and/or principals if they need to speak with a trusted adult. Please continue to encourage your child to reach out to any of these staff members who play a valuable role in responding to student needs and providing support, direction, and resources.
In the district’s commitment to student wellness, mentoring, club activities, student affinity groups, and athletic sports teams are available for students to join. For students who may need social, emotional, and/or mental health supports during school, in addition to the staff previously mentioned, a Student Assistance Program and Safety Care Team are established to address student needs and wellness during the most challenging times. Crisis and support hotlines are also accessible to students.
Wissahickon School District believes that a student’s social and emotional well-being is critical to their overall educational experience.
