WMS Intramural Sports for Winter Sport Athletes

In lieu of PIAA Interscholastic sports for the winter season, we will be running an intramural program for our winter sport athletes in 7th and 8th grade.

This intramural program will be facilitated by WMS winter sport coaches and will feature practice sessions and scrimmages designed to encourage the maintenance and development of skills and strategies necessary for success in each sport.

Each intramural sport will run for approximately four weeks in the following order: Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, and Wrestling. Sessions will take place Monday through Thursday, allowing winter sport athletes in each hybrid cohort an opportunity to attend two sessions per week on the days when they are in school for hybrid instruction.

Students who have selected 100% virtual instruction for the second marking period and students who enrolled in the Wissahickon Virtual Academy for the fall semester are also eligible to participate. These students will be assigned to two sessions each week. Each sport will be limited to a total of 48 participants (24 students per session).

In order to participate, all student athletes are asked to complete the WMS Sports Physical packet. A hard copy of the packet can also be obtained from Mrs. Borkowski's office beginning on November 9th. If you have already completed and submitted a WMS Sports Physical packet, you do not need to re-submit a new one.

Please stay tuned for details about dates, registration, and after-school transportation. In the meantime, please contact Mr. Keith Thompson (kthompson@wsdweb.org), the WMS Athletic Director, with all other questions.
