SCE District Artist with Principal and Art Teacher
District Artist of the Month: Braddek Fong, Stony Creek

Congratulations to second grader, Braddek Fong, our District Artist of the Month. Braddek completed a low relief Egyptian mask using glue, string, foil, and markers. The portrait projects slightly from the background, creating a sculptural effect. Second grade classes explored ancient Egyptian art and culture, which provided inspiration! Braddek was congratulated by Stony Creek Principal Mrs. Washam and Art Teacher Mrs. Coyle.

Shady Grove's Golden Spatula

Shady Grove’s Golden Spatula is a new, fun competition to promote positive behavior in the cafeteria.  It is awarded every 12 days to one classroom in each grade level. Each day the cafeteria table that best exhibits respect, responsibility, and safety in the classroom wins a Golden Spatula. After 12 days, the class who has accumulated the most Golden Spatulas wins! The winning class earns a special lunch bunch with Mrs. Sibley and they can display their winning poster and trophy outside of their classroom.

Shady Grove SELebrates

The entire Shady Grove community of 711 students all came together for a supercharged SELebration, including a minute-it-to-win-it competition between the grade-level students selected for demonstrating the character trait of responsibility. In 60 seconds, K-2 students rushed to stack and unstack 10 cups in a pyramid, and grades 3-5 tried to balance a stack of dice on a popsicle stick. The assembly kicked off with a schoolwide activity where all students participated to make sounds that mimic a rainstorm.
